High Heel Dance Shoes — Your Buying Guide
Dancing in high heels gives you an elegant line and confident look. At Miss Salsa you will find dance shoes with high heels (7 cm and higher) that combine comfort and stability — designed for dancing, not just for standing.
Our high heel dance shoes for women differ fundamentally from ordinary high heels. The heel is perfectly balanced for dance, the sole is made of suede for grip on the dance floor, and the shoe offers more support at the ball of the foot and the heel.
When ready for a high heel? If you dance comfortably on 5-6 cm and your balance and technique are well developed, you can take the step to 7+ cm. A higher heel lengthens your leg line and accentuates your movements, but requires more strength and control.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a high heel uncomfortable to dance on?
Not if you have the right shoe! High-heeled dance shoes are specially designed with extra cushioning and a balanced heel. They feel very different from ordinary pumps. The key is to build up: start with 7 cm and gradually go higher.
Which heel height is the highest for beginners?
We recommend starting no higher than 7 cm as an advanced dancer switching to higher heels. For absolute beginners, 5-6 cm is better. Build up in steps of 0.5-1 cm per pair of shoes.
Slim heel or wide heel?
A slim (stiletto) heel looks more elegant but offers less stability. A wider (flare) heel provides more support. For advanced dancers, a slim heel is popular for latin, for ballroom a wider heel is recommended.
